El peligro del intervencionismo
cómo salvar el liberalismo brasileño al estilo de Thatcher

El artículo analiza el intervencionismo en Brasil después de la Constitución de 1988 en comparación con la intervención gubernamental en Gran Bretaña después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. A través de esta comparación, que incluye una breve definición de intervencionismo y la complejidad del libre mercado, se busca determinar cómo el modelo gubernamental y económico aplicado en Inglaterra por Margaret Thatcher puede adaptarse al contexto brasileño actual. La aplicación del thatcherismo en Brasil implicaría la reducción de las funciones del gobierno, generando una mayor eficacia al enfocarse en menos preocupaciones, así como incrementando el libre mercado y, por ende, la libertad del individuo para emprender y gestionar sus finanzas con una considerable reducción en los impuestos. Un Estado fuerte no es aquel que tiene diversas obligaciones, sino aquel que cumple bien las que le corresponden, permitiendo a los individuos tomar la mayoría de las decisiones en sus vidas y hogares sin intervención del poder estatal.
